What would it be like if your whole life were about movies, one way or another? Like, when at night, you tell your friends about how your life has been lately and everything starts changing, while those listening to you can actually see and feel everyhting as if they had been there with you?

That’s what it was like for Cristian Nemescu and Andrei Toncu, who used images and sound to create a hypnotic world where magic, curiosity and enthousiasm were everywhere, and all you could do was just let this world swallow you in. Since, unfortunately, Cristi and Andrei are now gone and because we want to take this world they made further, we have created the NexT International Film Festival – N for Nemescu and T for Toncu.

Each year we gather short and medium films made by young and talented movie directors and sound designers from around the world. With them we want to share the love and passion Cristian and Andrei had for film-making. A maximum of 30 films are selected each year to take part in the festival and to compete for the NexT awards. The directors and sound-designers of these movies are invited to Bucharest throghout the whole Festival, because NexT is more than an intelligent film selection, it is a meeting place for all those who use films to live their lives and express themselves.

Together with film festivals and organisations form around the world we bring you a series of hors concours events ,so that each year, during the NexT Festival you can watch over 100 short and medium productions.

If you want to hear about the secretes behind these movies, you are invited to attend a number of workshops dealing with film-directing and sound-design (i.e. two main directions of the Festival). These workshops will feature famous directors and sound-designers. Aside from these workshops, there will be others focusing on screenplay-writing, production, film critique, etc, in order for you to get as complete an image about cinema as one can get.

All of of the above come from the fact that NexT is where you will be able to find the energy and inspiration you need to do everything you dream of.
